Welcome to the State Beach Series

The 2011/2012 State Beach Series Season has now come to a close. Thanks to everyone who came and supported The Starship Foundation Charity Race on Tuesday 20 March 2012.

Plans are already underway for the 2012/2013 Season so keep an eye out here for more details soon.

Grab your wetsuit, shoes or paddle and get ready test yourself at the State Beach Series 2012/2013 events. This event offers more disciplines, more distances, competing all at one time on Auckland’s most magnificent multisport location, Takapuna Beach.

This is where everyone can compete; some of New Zealand’s preeminent and elite athletes use the series to hone their skills while more and more recreational athletes - young and old have come along in recent years, got their feet wet, and got the multi-sport health and fitness bug.

Regardless of your personal goal this is a fun way to keep healthy and fit.

This is a 16 event series where your top 10 results will be counted toward overall prizes.  A special 17th event will be held with all proceeds to a nominated charity.

2011 - 2012 Season Great Stats

Increase in Stand Up Paddle Boarding: Since its inclusion in the 2009 / 2010 season, there has been a 38% increase in SUP boarders overall, with a huge 50% increase in females.
Oldest & youngest competitors: Last season boasted a wide range of participants,  from a 4.5 yr old taking the plunge in the 300m swim to a regular 78yr old participant going strong in the 1 / 1.5km swim - inspiring stuff!
Number of perfect score winners: Four participants achieved a perfect score of 1,000 points across 10 events. These were Tara La Grange - 5km run, Kirsty Wannan - 1,000m ocean swim, Annabel Anderson - 3km Stand Up Paddle Board and Andrew Stevens - 3km Novice Paddle. What a result - congrats!
Dedication to their own cause: Last season we had 15 people really dedicated to reaching their goals by taking part in each of the 16 events in the season. They were hotly chased by a large number of participants who took part in 10 – 16 events. Congrats guys – you know who you are!
