5km Run

The 5km Beach Run caters for all athletes from the social runner through to the competitive.

Takapuna Beach provides a picturesque location, no roads, no traffic and a firm sandy base to run on.

Come along and run at your own pace, set your own personal challenge or run with your friends and family.

All entrants receive their personal time which is displayed on the results page.

Start Times

The 5km Beach Run will start at 6:20PM.  There will be a compulsory race briefing held on the Reserve at 6:15PM

Course Maps

There are two 5km Beach Run courses at the State Beach Series. Course 2 is only used when the tide is very high.

Courses will not be explained at the race briefing - course maps will be available on the reserve and will be displayed closer to the start of the season on this webpage. A State Beach Series volunteer will be available to answer your questions about the course prior to the race briefing.

Race rules and regulations for the run events

  1. All runners must wear a State Beach Series high visibility singlet. Your first singlet will be provided free free of charge at the first event you take part in - the vest is provide by State Insurance and is compulsory to wear at every State Beach Series event you take part in
  2. All runners need to self-seed according to their ability. Novice runners should position themselves at the rear of the start field
  3. Please be aware of other beach users at all times
  4. Watch your footing on the beach for uneven surfaces and rocks
  5. The race time cut for the 5km and 2.5km run is 40 minutes
  6.  Junior runners must be 50m behind the 5km Runners before the start of the event.  Junior Runners can approach the start line once the 5km event has started and will start on the second hooter.
